Carlin’s Ugo Ugochukwu is looking forward with optimism to the second half of the 2022 ROKiT F4 British Championship certified by FIA season.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The McLaren prot\u00e9g\u00e9 has been one of the stars of the season so far, with six podium finishes, including a maiden win in single seaters during a treacherously wet final race at Brands Hatch, under the watchful eye of McLaren CEO, Zak Brown. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“So far the season has been going well,” evaluated Ugochukwu. “The highlights have certainly been my pole position in Donington Park and my first win in Brands Hatch in the rain.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The young American made the step into Britain’s FIA Formula 4 series this season from karting, and feels the championship’s Tatuus-Abarth-Pirelli combination has provided a perfect proving ground on which he has developed his skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The new car has been greet and I feel it allowed me to adapt well in my transition from karting to car racing. The new car is bigger and therefore it makes overtaking a bit harder in the narrow circuits.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The season resumes at Knockhill, Fife on 29-31 July, with further events at Snetterton, Thruxton, Silverstone and Brands Hatch’s Grand Prix circuit bringing the 30-race schedule to a close.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ugochukwu sits third in the points behind team-mate Oliver Gray and current leader Alex Dunne (Hitech GP). Although he has a steep 90-point margin to overcome if he is to secure the title in his first season, Ugochukwu is feeling confident about the task ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I\u2019m looking forward to next few races as there are some interesting and challenging tracks coming up in the calendar,” he says. “My mindset has not changed since the beginning of the season; I just have to do the best I can at each race.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
