Chris Dittmann Racing has announced it will expand to a two-car outfit for this weekends ROKiT F4 British Championship certified by FIA triple header at Snetterton, adding Jack Sherwood to the ranks.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sherwood, a race winner, and three-time podium finisher in the GB4 Championship this season, makes the step up to Britain\u2019s FIA Formula 4 series with an equally strong record in both the Ginetta Junior Championship and its Winter Series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 16-year-old, son of fellow racer Justin, has chosen Tewkesbury-based CDR as the perfect destination as he seeks to pit himself against the best rising stars his generation has to offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI’m happy to be joining the team for Snetterton,\u201d explains Sherwood. \u201cI’m looking forward to getting to work with everyone as they’ve been great, and I’ve been following them in the championship so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey seem to make really good progress so I’m looking forward to seeing what I can do, gaining experience, and trying to do the best we can. I think the team is capable of fighting for podiums, so we’ll see how Snetterton goes, but I’m looking forward to the challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sherwood underlined his priority first and foremost is to gain experience in the Tatuus T-421, without any pressure on the results, but feels time spent on CDR\u2019s simulator back at HQ will put him in a good position for the start of that development curve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe opportunity arose to do this round and it’s mainly just to gain experience, so there was no harm in doing it,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOptions are still open for next year and the more you drive, the more you learn, so it’s a great chance to drive the new generation F4 car. CDR have a great simulator, so I have spent a bit a bit of time on it which has been really helpful. I don’t think the car is too dissimilar to what I’ve been driving before, but there’s still going to be that learning process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt’s going to be tricky, going straight into a new championship, but with help from the team, we should be okay.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sherwood\u2019s announcement brings the grid numbers for this weekend\u2019s trip to the 2.96-mile Snetterton 300 circuit to 17 cars. After two practice sessions on Friday, drivers will navigate qualifying (10:30) and the first two races (14:05\/17:50) on Saturday, with one final, ITV4-televised contest on Sunday afternoon (15:05).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
