{"id":4364,"date":"2022-01-22T23:43:28","date_gmt":"2022-01-22T23:43:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fiaformula4.com\/?p=474"},"modified":"2022-01-22T23:43:28","modified_gmt":"2022-01-22T23:43:28","slug":"reigning-champion-matthew-rees-honoured-at-motorsport-uk-night-of-champions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fiaformula4.com\/reigning-champion-matthew-rees-honoured-at-motorsport-uk-night-of-champions\/","title":{"rendered":"Reigning champion Matthew Rees honoured at Motorsport UK Night of Champions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Reigning British F4 champion Matthew Rees today [22 January] picked up his championship trophy at the prestigious Motorsport UK Night of Champions.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.fiaformula4.com\/content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/1-A48I7190-1024x724.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-476 lazyload\" width=\"1135\" height=\"802\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1135px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1135\/802;\" \/><figcaption>Photo: Jakob Ebrey Photography<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The 16-year-old from Cardiff stormed to championship glory in Britain\u2019s FIA Formula 4 series at the first attempt after graduating from karting, including four race victories, ten podium finishes and seven pole positions \u2013 including a run of five in succession at the start of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The JHR Developments driver, who will graduate to the GB3 Championship for 2022, received his award at the Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall along with his fellow award recipients, dignitaries, and members of the motorsport community at the governing body\u2019s traditional annual celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m delighted to collect my championship trophy, and to take part in Motorsport UK\u2019s annual Night of Champions,\u201d said Rees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLast season was an incredible challenge. I\u2019m very proud of what JHR Developments and I were able to achieve and look forward to a fresh challenge ahead in GB3 with Steven [Hunter] and the team this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTo be here in attendance with such icons of the sport as Sir Jackie Stewart is a really special moment, and it\u2019s very humbling to be recognised at events such as these.
